Clock Tower Roundabout
At the center of Al Zahra’a Square, popularly known as Clock Tower Roundabout, a German construction firm gifted a clock tower to the city of Sharjah in 1969. The elongated traffic circle was designated in the master plan of that same year to become the new nexus of Sharjah commerce. The clock tower’s blue-petaled fountain helped make that possible. Its cool mists and flower beds became a public meeting spot and landmark. It hosted weddings, parades, and public holidays. Decorative night lights often marked recent and upcoming events.
